I have been in the Senior Living industry for over 11 years and 8 of those years have been spent right here with The Commons in a number of roles including activities, sales, and operations. I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and am actively involved in many different non-profit organizations serving seniors, the disabled community and the homeless population. My mother and grandparents taught me the value of extending empathy and kindness to those in need. Aside from being dedicated to The Commons, I also enjoy hiking adventures with my husband, working on DIY home projects or spending time with family and friends. My desire here at The Commons is to embrace all that was instilled in me over the years and continue to serve our residents with quality care, compassion and dignity. The heartbeat of The Commons is truly the residents and the tenured staff!
Tommie Godina – Wellness Coordinator
I have been in the Senior Living industry for over 24 years. All those wonderful years have been spent here at The Commons in dining services, reception, maintenance/housekeeping and nursing. I call this community my second home—my second family. I’ve been married for 28 years and have two wonderful children, a daughter and son. Most of the residents and families know that my daughter works here as well as a Med-Tech, part of our team. I enjoy going on long walks with my husband and our dog Tank. I love baseball and soccer and both of my children play soccer. Being both a soccer mom and a working mom made me understand how to enjoy the little things in life.
Kelly Najar - Activity Director
I have worked at The Commons as the Activity Director for the past two years. My goal as the Activity Director is to provide quality, fun and stimulating daily activities for our residents. My joy simply comes from seeing them enjoying themselves!
Michelle Anderson – Business Office Director
I joined The Commons team in 2019. I have over 15 years of experience in both Hospice and Assisted Living. I have a background in payroll, human resources and business administration. After going to work in Senior Living, I knew it was my calling to be in this field. It brought comfort to me and knowing what to expect as my passion is to assist others in need and to pay it forward.
Doriann Hunt – Memory Care “The Journey” Director
I’ve been working in Senior Living for the last 17 years, specializing in Memory Care. What I like most is the opportunity to help and get to know each resident and their families so we can optimize the care that meets each resident’s needs. Working here at the Commons feels like being at home.
Akeema Matthew – Director of Health Services
I have only been here for a short time, but it feels like I have been here for years due to the family culture and welcoming environment of the community. My passion has always been in senior care, as I started working as a caregiver/CNA while in college and later ventured on into nursing which has led me to my current position. I absolutely love taking care of others and making each day better than the last one and at The Commons I get to accomplish this every day and look forward to many great adventures with our residents.
Jose Larios – Food Services Director
I have been working in the Senior Living industry the last six years and enjoy serving the residents. I have been in the culinary field since 2008 and served in many different kitchen and dining roles in Chicago and California. I enjoy coming up with fresh new recipes for the residents to try and always appreciate hearing and receiving feedback. If I am not in the kitchen you can find me fixing my car(s) or enjoying the beach with my kids. I am so glad to be a part of The Commons’ team!
Juan Sanchez - Maintenance Director
I have been working 18 years in the Senior Living industry, over two years in this community. I am so grateful to be working at a community where I can help residents have a clean and safe environment because they are like my family.
