FOR THE COMMONS AT WOODLAND HILLS
What our Residents are Saying
“I am beyond grateful for The Commons at Woodland Hills. Upon entering the community, I am always welcomed by the friendly staff at the Front Desk. I moved my independent 93-year-old mother into her Commons apartment in 2015. It was the best place for my mom to receive the care and socialization that she couldn’t get living in her home. Assisted living at The Commons afforded her the perfect balance between maintaining independence and privacy while keeping her healthy and safe. Moving here improved my mother’s quality of life. This community has a “Small Town” atmosphere with “Big City” amenities. In a clean, attractive setting, The Commons is large enough to provide a variety of wonderful activities and entertainment for residents, yet small enough for the staff to know the residents by name…, and residents to form friendships with each other. There is a friendly, upbeat vibe in the various common areas as well as a friendly rapport among staff and residents. Recently my mother experienced a Hospitalization and prolonged stay in Rehab that was particularly challenging and debilitating. Her independence was compromised and I was uncertain whether she would be able to return to her original situation at The Commons. With a most positive “Don’t worry, we got this!” attitude, Executive Director, Hannah Myers, supported and encouraged us to move my mom back to her sweet apartment at The Commons just one day before her 99th Birthday. Since that day, Assisted Living Director, Akeema Matthew, has been approachable, vigilant, and shown great expertise in Medicine/ElderCare. Incredibly hard-working and truly Hands-on, veteran Commons employee, Tommie, leads a team of caregivers who know my mom well and give her very personalized care. They have given my mother tremendous support in her recovery. In addition, communication with the staff in all other departments has been excellent. I am confident that living at The Commons has added many quality days to my mother’s 99-year journey through life.”
“My mother lived at the Commons for the past six years. She went from independent living , to assisted living and then on to memory care. It have to say the caregivers are wonderful caring people. They were always kind and caring up until my mother passed away last week. It is not a five star residence as far as amenities but it is five stars in my opinion on human kindness! I thank you all, Diane”
“My husband had a massive stroke after he finished dinner – he sat down hard on a chair and the caregiver with him noticed something was wrong immediately and called 911. He was at the hospital in less than 10 minutes, so they were able to give him the clot busting drugs immediately. Because of this rapid response, he may make close to a full recovery. The Commons is a wonderful place.”
“The Commons at Woodland Hills is where my mom now calls home. She has a beautiful “apartment” in this fun, warm, kind, loving community. She has lived there for almost 2 years now and wouldn’t go back to her house if we wanted her to. There is always a fun activity or some great entertainment happening. The food is good and plentiful. I highly recommend The Commons to anyone looking for a caring assisted living.”
